Different offerings, same response

This week we opted to make a change and provide a different selection of hot food. A selection of vegetarian pasties/pastries were made available as well as hot chips and bread.

While distributing the food, a few members of the public stopped and had a chat with us. Questions such as why we were doing this and how it made us feel were asked and often people were asking how much the food was.

The response from those who require a meal was positively received also with many stating they did not know where the next meal was coming from if it was not for our seva.

Another week achieved

Despite the heavy rain storms that took place yesterday, we were not discouraged and continued with this weeks Seva.

Once again, offering freshly cooked pasta along with crisps, chocolates, biscuits and other refreshments we were able to provide food to over 30 people.

Since the start of our feed the less fortunate project we have consistently supplied meals/refreshments to 35+ people each week with a running total of over 200 being issued.

We would like to thank the new volunteers that took the time out yesterday and joined us to help.

New faces, same message

We have just completed our 5th week of seva and was visited by many new faces. We are encouraging the visitors that we are in the same location every Wednesday and if a hot meal is required then they are more than welcome.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank members of the public who have kindly donated food. We will be providing further information in the coming weeks about how people can donate food along with a list of items that would be desired.

Joined by new volunteers, we offered hot pasta as well as a selection of drinks, snacks, biscuits. Over 20 were distributed at our set location at Carfax Close and a further 20 were distributed by our volunteers at various locations within town.

We have additionally received donations of biscuit bars, cakes, crisps and other items  which will be put to use over the coming weeks. Swindon Sikh Seva Society will be providing hot meals each Wednesday at approx. 7.00pm on Carfax Close.

More questions, same response

We have just returned from this weeks seva and once again we have received a positive response from those in need.

Offering hot pasta as well as a selection of snacks and drinks, we are increasingly being asked why we are doing this and our response remains the same each week, we are looking to help those less fortunate.

IMG-20160420-WA0015 IMG-20160420-WA0017 Upon arrival there was already a hand of people waiting for food. Volunteers visited multiple areas of town and supplied 20+ meals to those we were unable to come to us. We will be providing meals at 7pm each Wednesday by Carfax Close.

More meals given out

We set again up this evening by Carfax street and offered a hot meal to anyone who required it. Once again we had an increased number in people requiring a hot meal. Some of our volunteers visited the Brunel car park where at least 15 hot meals were provided along with water and other food.

We were asked by a member of the public why we were doing this, our response was very simple – “We want to give back and help those who are less fortunate”.

We will setting up again next Wednesday at approx 7.00pm offering a meal to whoever requires it.

First Seva Completed

On Wednesday 6th April, Swindon Sikh Seva completed their first effort of assisting those less fortunate and provided the homeless with a hot meal and other refreshments.

We set up by the Bridge Street underpass, the meal was prepared less than an hour before we began distributing. Volunteers visited areas of town to inform the homeless that a hot meal was being provided.

Despite the very short notice, we were able to offer more meals to more than 30 people and they were welcomed by those who visited.

Swindon Sikh Seva will be setting up again this coming Wednesday at approximately 7pm at the same location should anyone wish to join us. If anyone does require any further information then please contact info@swindonsikhseva.org.
