Facebook ["error","(#200) Provide valid app ID"] 7 years ago Timeline Photos Wet Evening but further support received Whilst the weather hasn't been great over the last week or so, our volunteers continued with their weekly Seva and provided over 20 hot meals this evening. Freshly cooked pizzas were donated this week and quickly distributed as well as our usual supplies. This evening we were joined by members of Swindon Asians Football Club (SAFC) committee who have been made aware of our Seva and the support we are providing to the local community. SAFC have kindly donated t shirts (pictured) to the members of our Seva allowing the public to identify with our Seva and provides a uniformed approach when the public wish to ask questions about the Seva that we are providing weekly. See more View on facebook 7 years ago Seva keeps going This evening we have completed our weekly seva and as per the usual weeks we have seen a positive response. This evening we saw over 25 meals being served with people taking time to come and speak to us to understand why we do this each week. This evenings hot meal was a donation of sholay (chickpea) curry with rice with water, crisps, chocolates, biscuits being made available. A special thanks the volunteers who provided this weeks hot meal. A further thanks to those people who have donated food for this Seva. Once again we visited our regular location to provide a hot meal to anyone who required and as per usual we were greeted with a positive response, over 20 hot meals were served this evening with others taking items like water, crisps, biscuits and chocolates. Whilst the number of visitors each week seem to vary each week, our volunteers are always pleased hear positive response from our visitors with regular feedback of how the meals we supply are appreciated. See more View on facebook 7 years ago On this warm summer's evening we have just completed our weekly seva. Offering our usual snacks and refreshments. This week we were able to supply freshly cooked pasta as our hot meal with some comments of how its been a while since we provided pasta. The response was extremely positive this week with all items taken within 30 minutes of us setting up. As usual, thanks for all volunteers involved who have taken time out to continue this seva which is being appreciated each week by those individuals who are making use of it. ... See more View on facebook 7 years ago This week we were able to offer fresh pizzas as this evenings hot meal. As per usual the meal was gratefully received from those who required it. We have seen an increase of visitors and we continue to ensure all of the prepared food is distributed and there is no waste. We have noticed that people especially regulars are now identifying us each week and understanding the purpose of our Seva. Swindon Sikh Seva Society will be returning next week Wednesday at 7.00pm. Our volunteers have just returned from this week’s Seva and were able to provide a hot meal to any individuals that require it. Despite the weather we have seen a steady flow of people visiting over the last few weeks. Those individuals who do visit us are always grateful for our efforts and appreciate what we do. For those who have only just liked our page or is seeing this post for the first time, the background to our Seva is a group of volunteers came together in April 2016. After speaking to local organisations and charities we decided to offer a hot meal to any individuals who required it. We are a non profitable organisation, all food is provided via donations and everyone involved are volunteers. A question we are asked each week is why do we do this? Our answer is simple, to spread the message of equality set by our Gurus. Sikhism teaches to share with others and help those with less who are in need. For once we are enjoying some warm weather however there the importance of our Seva is still present in warmer weather just as it is in colder weather. During this weather we find that dehydration can be a big problem for those individuals who visit us. With this in mind we took extra water and drinks with us this evening to ensure we had enough supplies available. We offered pizza and chips our hot meal and as usual were able to serve over 20 people. Our volunteers have just completed their weekly seva and we found this evening to be a little bit slower with approx 15-20 meals served. This evening we served fresh pizza as our hot meal and include drinks, crisps for anyone who required it. See more View on facebook 7 years ago Photos from Swindon Sikh Seva Society's post East meets West Another seva completed this evening, this evening we offered samosas and chips as our hot meal and were able to serve over 20 meals. Due to the warmer weather we had extra supplies of water for those to required it and will continue to ensure we have additional water available during the warmer months. We were approached by some visitors and started to discuss the terrible events which occurred in Manchester earlier this week and we would like to take a moment to share our thoughts and condolences with all those affected. See more View on facebook 7 years ago Wet evening but busy Our volunteers have just returned from this weeks Seva and even though it is wet outside it didn't stop us from supply our weekly hot meal which was pizzas this week. This evening we were busier than usual and found all of our meals were served rather quickly. Some people stopped this evening just to understand how we are covering what we do online, we explained the background to the Facebook page and our website.
